Asian markets will be quiet all week with the Chinese lunar New Year celebrations, while Europe and the US have a very slow start to the trading week, due to the lack of major economic data releases. European and US inflation numbers will be in focus this coming week, with the US CPI number out tonight, followed by the PPI number later in the week. Danish and Portuguese inflation numbers have both risen, reflecting the recent spikes in European inflation, due to supply chain restraints from the Middle East. The EUR was steady, trading 1.0770, while the GBP consolidates above 1.2600.
The slow start to the trading week was also experienced in the commodity currency trading, with the AUD trading above 0.6500, while the NZD drifted back to 0.6120. A look at inflation in the US will kick off a serious trading week tonight.
